Moon Stones

Stones charged with the magic of gods. They are generated during either a blood moon or a blue moon, when multiple gods gather on the moon and charge it with their energy. When a certain threshold is magical power has beeen reached, pieces of the moon break off and fall down onto earth. Most of these will fall apart during their travel through the atmosphere and turn into dust raining down on earth, causing a blood rain or a blue rain respectively. But some pieces are big enough that they stay in one piece and land on earth. These pieces then are the moon stones, rare and magical items sought after both for their value and their magical powers.

Red Stones

These are generated during a blood moon, when many gods gather in the lunar halls of Lunara, charging it with their energy. Compared to blue stones, these are less powerful, but a single one still holds more energy than a single wizard can generate through their entire lifetime.

As their energy comes from many different sources, their properties are often unpredictable and different stones are able to be used for different purposes. For example, a stone comprised of mostly energy from Volkaa, the god of the forge, would be used to create weapons and armor, while a stone with the combined energies from Divara, the goddess of luck and Ithron, the god of destiny, might be used to create a charm to see or influence the future.

Blue Stones

These stones are many times more powerful than red stones, as they only come into being when Kalia visits her lover Lunara during a blue moon. This only happens once every 10 years, and the powers that are released are incomparable to any other events generating magical energies. And since these stones contain only the power of Lunara, the moon goddess and Kalia, the goddess of the ocean and water, their properties are much more predictable. They are mostly free to be used for almost any purpose, as Lunara already has the powers to almost do anything and Kalia is also extremely powerful. The only restrictions on their powers are ones of pure destruction, as such powers go against both of their nature, and a union between them will resist being used for such purposes. That is not to say no one has tried before, but such experiments usually only lead to the destruction of the stone itself, earsing anyone in a burst of magical energy.
