Noctara

The goddess of stars and the night sky.

Appearance and Personality

As Noctara does not spend much time on Moonspire, she has no affinity for any particular race of Higher Beings, so there is no particular body shape she prefers. Often, after she visited earth and observed some of its beings, she will assume a similar appearance for a while, changing it on her next visit to earth.

When not ovserving Moonspire from afar, she spends her time organizing the stars in the sky, ensuring it regularly displays new patterns in the sky, especially during full moon festivals, when she knows many are paying attention. Just before a blue moon she takes particularly great care, knowing everyone will be observing the night skies intently. She also wants to make sure both Lunara and Kalia have the perfect view during some of their few nights together.

Noctara does not have great social skills, since she spends most of her time alone, so she also does not have many relationships with other gods. The only other god she really is friends with is Lunara, the two of them often meeting in her palace, Noctara telling her about what she observed on Moonspire, watching the higher beings.

History

Noctara is the youngest of the lesser gods, only coming into being after many higher beings had already formed more advanced civilizations and wondered if there is more to the universe they can see. Even then, only few people worhip her compared to the other gods, most people prefering gods that feel closer to them and their daily lives.

As she awkoke, alone in the cosmos, she did not know where she was or why she existed, the only thing she could make out was a faint energy from far away. Realizing this must be where she got her life energy from, she decided to explore and find out what was going on. Before her eyes could reach Moonspire, she saw the moon, its glow enchanting and calling to her. As she came closer she saw Lunara's impressive palace, glowing in her energy and she was drawn to it. Upon her arrival, Lunara welcomed her into her halls, delighted to welcome another god. She explained everything about the world she created, the creatures living on it, as well as the history of the gods. Hearing these stories awakened a great admiration in Noctara, for the Divine Triad in general, but even more so for Lunara in particular. On this day, she vowed to always be loyal to her queen, the creator of everything and who was unconditionally kind to her.

Once she then left Lunara's palace again, she visited Moonspire, admiring The Divine Triads creation and looking for the ones who worshipped her. While she was deeply taken by the creatures she found there and especially apreciated her worshippers, who she believed were responsible for her existence, she did not feel at home there. Instead, she enjoyed the quietness and high-up view she had up in the skies, close to the moon and Lunara. Thus, she spends her time staying in the skies, constantly reinventing the firmament, moving the stars around, creating new ones and protecting Moonspire from stray meteors and other debris. She also loves visiting Lunara in her palace, where she is always warmly welcomed, the two growing into very close friends as time went on.

When Ryxos started whispering to the gods, they believed Noctara to be an easy target, as she was not usually seen among other gods and spent most of her time alone. They underestimated the bond between her and Lunara however, their calls falling on entirely deaf ears. Ryxos' lies were in fact so ineffective against her, that Noctara believed there was no threat from them at all and she quickly forgot about them when Ryxos realized she was more of a danger than a possible asset.

This proved to be a fatal mistake when the night of The Marking arrived. When the other gods turned to attack Lunara, even including her beloved Kalia, she realized how powerful Ryxos really was. In the end, she, Volkaa and Velora were the only ones standing with Lunara, outnumbered by all the other gods present. When she then even witnessed Volkaa being killed by his close friend Calzareth, she knew they had lost and fell into deep despair, which then allowed Lyrax to subdue her, making her unable to help her friend. And although in hindsight she wished they would have killed her in that moment, something kept Lyrax from landing that final blow. As even Lunara's former friends, Kalia and Faeryn, had turned on her, Nocatara was the last one on her side, but unable to stop them, she watched as they succeeded in their plan, banishing Lunara possibly forever.

After these events, Noctara lost her will to live, drifting among the stars and waiting for the world to end. If not even Kalia would stand by her former lover, she could not believe anything could be done anymore, and whatever Ryxos was planning would succeed.
