Kalia
The goddess of the sea and water. She is one of the few gods most people believe exist, but even she has many doubters. After Lunara created the world from nothingness, Kalia was tasked with filling the earth, creating the oceans and allowing life to prosper on it. The tides are an eternal reminder of the love she and Lunara share, pulling the seas towards her on the moon whenever it comes close.
History
The three major gods, Lunara, Kalia and Fearyn created the world together. After Lunara created the earth and the moon, and turned her attention to her domain on the moon, these Kalia and Faeryn were tasked with finishing the earth. While Faeryn created plants and shaped the lands, Kalia was responsible for the oceans and providing water for the newly created life to sustain itself. During this time, all three of them grew closer and closer, being known as the Divine Triad among the other gods. Over time, Kalia and Lunara grow more closer to each other and became lovers, while Faeryn was left to its own with unrequited love for Kalia, which had grown from watching her create and care for the aquatic creatures of earth. This conflict boiled over when Lunara returned to earth and created the Higher Beings. After a long and drawn out fight between the three, they realized they were threatening to destroy the world they just created if they kept going and agreed to stop, but the triad would never be the same. Fearyn, realizing he could not stand between the couple left never to be seen again, while Lunara returned to her palace on the moon. Kalia was the only one that stayed on earth to look after the oceans and the lands that Faeryn left behind. In order to keep these responsibilities, she could not stay on the moon with Lunara, and instead they settled on only meeting once every ten years during the nights that became known as the blue moon.
The Blue Moon
Once around eery ten years the event known as the blue moon occurs. This is when Kalia once again reunites with Lunara on the moon, which is marked by the moon turning glowing blue during a full moon, eminating the combined power of Lunara and Kalia. Whenever this happens, the amounts of magical power cause parts of the moon to break of, falling down to earth and leading to a rain of blue sand. Some of the pieces don't fully disintegrate and land on the earth are known as the blue moon stones and are rare and powerful artifacts.
Kalia's Madness
After many years of harmony between Kalia and Lunara, slowly but surely some discard would arise. Kalia started hearing whispers, only quiet at first, but ones that kept getting louder and louder in her head, impossible to ignore. These came from a primordial entity known as Ryxos, older than the moon and the earth, and even more ancient than all the gods. They spoke of lies and betrayal, Lunara having secret plans of destroying the earth and all the creatures she held so dear, of Lunara seizing the powers of all the gods for herself, leaving them as nothing more than shells of their former selves. At first she would not believe any of them. How could her beloved goddess do any of the things it claimed. But over time she grew distrustful, Ryxos' influence having already claimed many of her fellow gods as well and she started scheming a way to stop the plans she was sure Lunara was hatching. Along with the god of nature, Faeryn, who felt Ryxos' influence particularly strong, she came up with a plan to destroy the moon with Lunara imprisoned within.
After gathering many other gods influenced by Ryxos' whispers, they waited for the next blood moon, now known as The Marking. Until then, during each new blue moon, Kalia collected as many of the blue stones as she could gather, biding her time and making sure Lunara would not become wise of her plan. Once the marking arrived, after all the gods had gathered in Lunara's palace, they accused her of all crimes they were sure she was planning and a historical fight broke out among them. Many gods lost their lives that night and the usurpers finally succeeded in the first phase of their plan. They imprisoned Lunara within her palace, forcing her to remain on the moon until the day the other gods will destroy it. From the massive amounts of magical power unleashed during the battle, the moon stones became supercharged, increasing massively in energy and size. These stones, many of which reached the earth without breaking apart gave rise to the lunar mark, embedding themselves in the bodies of anyone unlucky enough to find them and permanently giving them the curse. Even the remaining sand was strong enough to induce similar effects in other people leading them into a similar state of rage and destruction as the ones with the curse. The sand's effects finally ended after the blood moon ended, but those with stones embedded in their body were still cursed.
Once the gods had imprisoned Lunara, they started the second phase of their attack, gathering as many of the blue stones as they could find and having Kalia walk on earth pretending to be Lunara. Lunara would then gather followers and embed her own charged blue stones in their body. These had a similar effect to the red stones, causing the affected to lose control over themselves and inducing changes in their physiology. But instead of going mad and causing mayhem and destruction, these nightstalkers were more restrained, being controlled by Kalia's commands. Once she would gather enough nightstalkers she would gather them all at the Moon Gate, the biggest temple dedicated to Lunara, located at the center of Moonspire. There she would combine all the powers contained within the stones of her nightstalkers and offering their bodies, in order to open a rift that would allow Ryxos to enter this world. They could then destroy the moon along with Lunara ending her once and for all.
