Campaign
A mysterious woman appeared in the kingdom, claiming to be the lost moon goddess Lunara. She claims to know the origins and a cure to the Curse of the Lunar Mark, a curse that appeared years ago and is slowly spreading through the population, threatening the entire kingdom of Moonspire. And while there have been reports of her healing ones afflicted with the curse and her ollowing is steadily growing, many are also wary of her methods and claims.
Goals
The players will be able to find multiple different clues as to the true nature of Lunara, as well as the true history and presence of the gods. Key pieces of information include
- Lunara's true identity as Kalia
- Her working together with Faeryn and other gods in order to overthrow Lunara
- Their minds being corrupted by Ryxos and the true goal of Ryxos' destruction of everything in existence
- The true origins of the lunar mark and what happened during the night of The Marking
Outcomes
Depending on how much information could be gathered and correctly put together, there are a few different ways the story can end
- Worst ending If they do not stop Kalia at all and assume she is actually Lunara, the plans will all finish withtout any problems and Ryxos will indeed threaten to destroy all of existence At this point, depending on their previous actions, they might have a chance to still free at least some of the gods from Ryxos' influence and release Lunara in time to partially stop them Even if this succeeds, this will still be the "bad ending", allowing Ryxos to destroy many parts of the planet, corrupting its inhabitants and possibly not even being able to fully seal them away
- Bad ending If they manage to uncover at least part of Kalia's plan, but do
not know the full extend of her plans, they might be able to stop her at least
But not knowing about Faeyryn and the other gods, continuing her work in
secret, they will still manage to succeed in summoning Ryxos. Depending on how
they handled defeating Kalia, she might be able to help them and the ending
might be slightly better. They might be able to free Kalia from Ryxos'
influecne completely, at which point she will tell them at least part of what
happened, but her memories will be unclear. In this case she will try and find
a way to release Lunara while the players can choose to either try and stop
the other gods or help her with Lunara.
- If Lunara can be freed in time, the next events are similar to the saving grace of the bad ending where she will try and release the other gods from Ryxos' influence and at least partiall stop them.
- If they instead go after the other gods, the amount of gods they can save will determine the outcome, the more are on their side the more likely they are to stop Ryxos' plan. But in this case Ryxos will still be summoned, only slightly less powerful than usual, giving them more chances to minimize their destruction In either case, without additional help, Kalia will take a long time to free Lunara allowing her to only appear towards the end of the climax and save what is possible
- Neutral ending If they manage to uncover the plans of the other gods, but do
not find out about Ryxos, the outcome highly depends on how they decide to
proceed
- If they try and hunt down gods, the plans may be delayed, but as no mortal has the power to fully destroy a god this will only delay the inevitable, leading into one of the worse endings
- If they instead find a way to peacefully stop them, they might have a chance of at least saving some of them, the key figures here being Kalia and Faeryn Even after being saved, the gods will not be able to fully reveal the plans as they will all have holes in the memory At this point each additional god will give some more information about what happened. If they then manage to uncover enough information and get enough gods onto their side, they might be able to change to one of the good endings instead
- Good ending If they manage to uncover the plan in time, knowing about Ryxos
and the events at the marking, they have a chance of saving both Kalia and
Faeryin and release some or all of the other gods from Ryxos' influence. Then
they can try and release Lunara before Ryxos tries to use their influence to
still enter the plane
- If they do succeed, Lunara can release the curses and deus ex machina the ending, cleaning up any dangling loose threads. This is the hardest part of the good ending, as they not only have to gather enough information to find out everything, but also save enough gods in time to be able to save Lunara before Ryxos has a chance to interfere.
- Otherwise, Ryxos will manage to enter this world and start their destruction. But with the power of the gods on their side they can hold him in check until Lunara is released. If they decide to fight Ryxos without Lunara's help this might return to one of the bad endings as she is the only ond who can hold her own against Ryxos Once Lunara then joins the fight, she will be able to use the help of the other gods and fully seal Ryxos back into the void. At least Kalia and Faeryn need to be present helping her, otherwise at least some destruction or only partial banishment is possible If enough of the lesser gods are also present and on their side, they might even be able to seal Ryxos off from the world completely, shielding themselves from any future influences.
- Secret best ending This ending is mostly the same as the good ending, but with some additional requirements. The players also need to find out the history of the Divine Triad, save Faeryn before Kalia and have him release her from the curse. This will allow Faeryn to let go of his jealousy towards Kalia and Lunara and return to his former power. Then it is possible to fully banish Ryxos with only the Divine Triad present and the players will only need to hold off Fearyn's army and the other gods long enough that the triad can defeat Ryxos. If everything goes well in the final fight, the triad has been successfully been reunited and the earth has been saved with only minimal damage. Then the triad will leave the earth returning to the moon and now living there together instead of Lunara being alone in her palace. This will lead to the moon permanently turn into a more cyan-like color as if there is a constant blue moon, but now with Faeryn present as well. Blue moons will then also seize, but the moon will still sometimes release moon stones as well as have periods of cyan rain, but now more common and more irregular. The new moon stones can be like the original blue ones, or one of two new ones, cyan and green, each also containing the powers of Faeryn. Since this also means neither Kalia nor Faeryn will have the chance to look after their creation, the players will be elevated to (half-) gods and tasked with looking over the earth in their stead.
