Lunara (alleged goddess)
Lunara is a mysterious woman who first appeared a few months ago, claiming to be the moon goddess of the same name. Since then she has started preaching in many cities around Moonspire, gathering followers in order to enact her plan to end the curse of the Lunar Mark once and for all.
Teachings
According to her own sermons, Lunara is an incarnation of the moon goddess that came down to earth in order to stop the curse of lunar mark started by The Marking four years ago. While she is very secretive about the details of the plan, she is very fervent in her claims that she has the power to stop them once she has gathered enough followers.
Additionally, she also claims to be able to heal the marked ones allowing them to return to their normal lives. And it looks like this is exactly what she is doing, many of her followers being formerly marked. Once she performs her magic, embedding a small blue crystal into the skin of a cursed one, the crescent moon takes on the crystal's color and the claw marks start to slowly fade, at which point the effects of the curse cease to affect the person.
Because of this and the fact that she actually treats the cursed as people instead of monsters, many of her followers consist of formely cursed, so much so that the altered mark, now known as lunara's mark has become the symbol of her and her followers. At this point even most of her followers that have not been cursed are having the mark placed on their bodies, either as a tattoo or for some higher-ranking followers a mark granted by Lunara herself, including one of the crystals she usually places on cursed ones.
However, among her critics there have been other reports. Some claim there is a darker side to her mark, allowing her to control her followers. Others reported seeing creatures similar to werewolves out at night and while some details differ, they all agree these creatures are different from the usual werewolves and look less unhinged, but more controlled. These creatures are known as the Nightstalkers
The Secret Plan
Lunara is indeed not lying about her plan to end the curse of the blood moon, nor is she lying about needing many followers to accomplish their goal. However, her claim to be the moon goddess lunara are entirely false. Instead, she is actually the incarnation of Kalia, having fallen out with her former lover due to the influence of the primordial entity Ryxos, who is trying to end the world and return it to nothingness.
Her claims of healing the curse of the blood moon isn't entirely accurate either. While the crystal she embeds into the body of cursed ones does surpress the effects of the curse, it also brings a new one upon them. This is Lunara's curse and it works similarly to the original one. Anyone that is affected changes their appearance and gains an ability to transform, now into a nightstalker. On it's own this power does not have many downsides compared to that of the werewolves. But there is one big one that might be even more devastating: Lunara has full control over all of their actions. In addition, when they have no more assigned tasks, their bodies start slowly deteriorating and if no new commands are issued they end up dying.
In the first stage of her plan, Lunara is using her nightstalkers to cause more chaos and fear, having them act as werewolves and luring more and more people into her cult. Once this step has been accomplished, her main plan will go into effect.
At this point, all her nightstalkers will gather at the Moon Gate, combining the power of the crystals embedded within them and offering their bodies to Ryxos. If enough power has been gathered this way, a rift will open allowing Ryxos to enter this plane of existence from the space between planes they currently reside. At this point all the other gods under Ryxos' influence, lead by Fearyn and accompanied by his army, combining the power of the crystals embedded within them and offering their bodies to Ryxos. At this point the other gods under Ryxos' influence, led by Faeryn and accompanied by the army he has created will join them to witness the destruction of the moon, where Lunara has been imprisoned in the night of the marking. At this point, all the evil plans the gods were convinced Lunara were hatching could be finally stopped once and for all, as their army crushes any remaining supporters of Lunara. At this point Faeryn and Kalia could assume their rightful positions as the leaders of the gods and Moonspire.
Of course, Ryxos' claims were all lies, Lunara never had any evil plans, and more importantly, the destruction of the moon would never satisfy them. Instead, they would use the opportunity of having reached this plane of existence and end it, destroying the world and returning it to nothingess.
